Shukria Barakzai

I was born in the year 1351 in the beautiful city of Kabul. I started my primary education in year 1356 in Malalay School. Yet I was only twelve years that I started writing short stories and soon became a member of educational association of the school and also got membership of both volleyball and football from the same school.I joined university in 1368 as a student of agriculture department.

I am one of the Afghans who have suffered occupation, fighting and hardships along with other countryman inside Afghanistan. During all last decades, I served as a teacher, then as chief of Asian woman association serving the country while all the doors of hopes were closed for women.

My social activities started bringing effects into the social and political lives of Afghans while I started the "Aina-e-Zan" newspaper. These activates are considered as a major success in my career. Meanwhile, being the Editor of 2004 and achieving the global award from international Media association is another success for Afghan Media Family and myself.

I played a very important role in drafting the constitution of Afghanistan and made my contribution for the beloved people of my country. It is also important to mention that I received the medal of honesty from President Karzai for this task.

Forming the Afghan women journalists association was another remarkable success for me.

During the parliamentary selection, I was a successful candidate from Kabul and managed to gain the trust from my people and was voted for the membership of parliament. After starting my work in parliament, I am trying best to ensure law enforcement and making sure people demands are taken into account and met. Meanwhile, we formed the third line poliical group in parliament headed by myself ensuring people voices are heard properly and critical attention is paid to their needs.
